East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III and retired High Point, N.C. Police Chief Jim Fealy will address the Press Club at noon Monday, June 25.

Moore and Fealy will discuss the Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination Project, a new violent crime intervention plan aimed at violent offenders as well as drug offenders in the city’s 70805 ZIP code. The plan is modeled after a highly regarded strategy for curbing violence that has worked in cities across the country, including High Point.

State Inspector General Stephen Street Jr. will address the Press Club at noon Monday, May 21.

Street will discuss his office, the only state law enforcement agency with a primary focus of rooting out fraud and corruption in state government. He also will talk about House Bill 1, which enacts the state budget for the fiscal year and would remove funding for the Inspector General’s Office.

Haynes will discuss a new law that links 50 percent of annual teacher evaluations to yearly gains in student test scores. The law will go into affect statewide during the 2012-2013 school year.
