Gov. John Bel Edwards to speak at Press Club on May 1

Gov. John Bel Edwards will make his farewell appearance before the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, May 1. He will discuss his legislative goals.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal served at 12:15 p.m., is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.


New Southern U basketball coach Kevin Johnson to speak at April 24 Press Club

Kevin Johnson, the new head men’s basketball coach at Southern University, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, April 24. Johnson, who was most recently assistant coach at Tulane University, will discuss his plans to restore the winning tradition at Southern.

Music expert Kevin Greene to speak at April 17 Press Club

Kevin Greene, an expert on copyright law and Black music, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, April 17. Greene, a law professor at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California, is also one of the featured speakers during the Baton Rouge Blues Festival.

No Press Club on April 10

The Press Club of Baton Rouge will not meet on Monday, April 10, because of the start of the Legislative Session. Weekly luncheon meetings will resume on April 17 at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. The speaker will be Kevin Green, an expert on copyright law and Black music and a speaker during the Baton Rouge Blues Festival.
