The Rev. Raymond Jetson, chairman of the Baton Rouge Transit Coalition, and Alex Velasquez, a representative of Taxbusters, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, April 2.

Jetson and Velasquez will discuss the proposed municipal bus system tax and debate the future of the Capital Area Transit System. The election on the tax is April 21.

LSU AgCenter economist John Westra will address the Press Club at noon Monday, March 26.

Westra will report on the latest Louisiana agriculture summary, which will be released that day. While other sectors of the Louisiana economy struggle, the agriculture economy continues to thrive with numbers up again in 2011 over 2010.

State Superintendent of Education John White and Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development Stephen Moret will address the Press Club at noon Monday, March 19.

White and Moret will discuss Gov. Bobby Jindal’s education reform package and its expected impact on Louisiana’s business climate and economic growth.

The Baton Rouge Press Club will not meet Monday, Feb. 20 because of the commencement of the 2012 regular legislative session.
