Wildlife and Fisheries officials will speak at Press Club on Feb. 26

Secretary Jack Montoucet and other representatives from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will discuss their push for the first overall license fee hike in 15 years, aside from a 2014 increase for saltwater fishing licenses. The license increase will appear as a bill during the 2018 regular legislative session. LDWF, which relies on oil and gas revenues and federal funding, does not receive state general fund dollars.

U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham, who represents Louisiana’s 5th Congressional district, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Feb. 19. He will provide a Congressional update on the recently passed budget, the military, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Medicare. As Louisiana’s only representative on the House Agriculture Committee, he will provide an update on the new farm bill.
