The Press Club of Baton Rouge will not meet on Monday, Sept. 2, because of the Labor Day holiday. Weekly luncheon meetings will resume on Sept. 9 at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal served at 12:15 p.m., is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 26. She will talk about how recently passed legislation and changes to LED’s organization, operations and culture are transforming the way Louisiana approaches economic development.

Russel Honoré, retired commanding officer of the First U.S. Army and now leader of the GreenARMY, a coalition of environmental experts and advocates, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 19. He will discuss how the fossil fuel industry in Louisiana is worsening pollution and making the state more vulnerable to climate disasters like hurricanes.

Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 12. He will talk about his recent trip to Cuba, along with Louisiana’s role in international trade. He will also give an update on how the state’s agricultural and forestry sectors are doing this year.
