Central school superintendent will speak at Press Club on June 3

Michael Faulk, superintendent of the Central Community School System, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on June 3. Faulk represents the Louisiana Association of School Superintendents and will discuss the K-12 education issues now before the Louisiana Legislature and the implications for school districts, teachers and students. Press Club meets on Mondays at De La Ronde Hall, which is located at 320 Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.


Press Club will not meet May 27

The Baton Rouge Press Club will not meet Monday, May 27, in honor of Memorial Day. The Press Club will meet again on Monday, June 3. Meetings are Mondays at De La Ronde Hall at 320 Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club or the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.


Sen. Ben Nevers will speak at Press Club on May 20

Sen. Ben Nevers, D-Bogalusa, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on May 20 about the Louisiana Health Care Independence Program. Sen. Nevers is a member of the Health and Welfare Committee. DHH official to speak at Press Club on May 13

Dr. Jimmy Guidry, state health officer and medical director for the Department of Health and Hospitals, will be the speaker at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, May 13. He will talk about hurricane preparedness efforts in advance of the June 1 start of the hurricane season.

Veterans Affairs official to speak at Press Club on May 6

David LaCerte, deputy secretary and executive counsel of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on May 6. He will discuss proposed legislation at the state and federal levels regarding veterans and the effects of a possible troop reduction at Fort Polk.
