No Press Club meeting on July 4th

The Press Club of Baton Rouge will not meet on July 4th. The next meeting will be on July 11th. More details later.


Pennington researcher will speak on food insecurity, obesity at Press Club on June 27

Candice Myers, director of the Social Determinants and Health Disparities Lab at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, June 27. She will discuss food insecurity and its relationship to obesity, an issue exacerbated during the pandemic.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at the Drusilla Seafood Restaurant, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal served at 12:15 p.m., is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.


Rep. Royce Duplessis will speak on redistricting at Press Club on June 20

State Rep. Royce Duplessis, vice chairman of the House and Governmental Affairs Committee, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, June 20. Duplessis, D-New Orleans, sponsor of a bill that would add a second majority-minority district, will discuss the current dispute over redistricting.

Union Parish District Attorney John Belton will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, June 13. He will discuss current issues and talk about his upbringing and background as it relates to his law enforcement commitment to protect families and freedoms.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul will speak at June 6 Press Club

Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, June 6. He will discuss combating crime in the capital city, especially as we head in to the summer months, recruitment and other current issues.
