The team from Louisiana Public Broadcasting that produced the new documentary “Circles: The Life of Billy Cannon” will be the guest speakers at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 28. Joining the discussion will be Clarence “C.C.” Copeland, CEO of LPB; Linda Midgett, director and executive producer; Jay Dardenne, executive producer; and Cathy Berry, producer. Bunnie Cannon, youngest daughter of the late football legend and Heisman Trophy winner, will represent the Cannon family.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal, costs $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. LSU professor emeritus and author Bob Mann will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 21. Mann, who is the author of Kingfish U: Huey Long and LSU, taught at LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication for 18 years, and spent more than two decades working in Louisiana politics. He will discuss LSU football, the legacy of Huey Long’s involvement in the program and present-day parallels.

The Press Club of Baton Rouge will host a candidate forum for the mayor of Central, La., on Sept. 14, at noon. The candidates are Geno Guerico, a business owner; Aaron Moak, an East Baton Rouge Metro Council member; Lon Vicknair, chief of staff to East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards; and D’Ann Wells, a Central Council member.

The forum will start ahead of schedule at noon instead of 12:15 p.m. and will conclude at 1 p.m.
