The five candidates vying for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District seat have been invited to participate in a Baton Rouge Press Club forum at noon on Oct. 5 at Drusilla Place Catering. The candidates are:
- Lisa Ballay, a Libertarian from New Orleans, has more than two decades experience as a health care professional.
- Walter “Rocky” Beach, a No Party candidate from Gonzales, has been a paramedic for nearly 40 years and wants to make health care a priority.
- Troy A. Carter, a Democrat from New Orleans, is the incumbent seeking his third full term. He is a former member of the Louisiana House of Representatives and the New Orleans City Council.
- Renada “Honey” Collins, a No Party candidate from New Orleans, is an entrepreneur and community activist and former banking executive.
- Peter Williams, a Republican from Lettsworth in northern Pointe Coupee Parish, is a former teacher and now operates a family tree farm and specialty crop business.
The forum will start at noon instead of 12:15 p.m. and will conclude at 1 p.m.
Drusilla Place Catering is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program. Lunch is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
