Paul Sawyer will talk about major regional flood control projects at the March 3 Press Club

Paul Sawyer, executive director of the Amite River Basin Commission, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, March 3. March is Flood Awareness Month, and Sawyer will speak on the status of major flood control projects in the capital region, including the Comite River Diversion Canal, and the newly reconstituted Amite River Basin Commission and its master plan that is in the final stages before being delivered to the Louisiana Legislature in April.

PAR President Steven Procopio will speak at Feb. 24 Press Club

Steven Procopio, president of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR), will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Feb. 24. He will speak about Amendment 2 on the March 29 ballot. This amendment is a condensation of a 115-page bill passed by the Louisiana Legislature during the November 2024 special session that rewrites the section of the state constitution that governs taxes and spending.

Mary Stein, assistant director at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library system, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Feb. 17. Stein will discuss how the libraries are funded and the role the libraries play in improving the quality of life in the parish.
