Ag Commissioner Strain to speak at Press Club March 6

Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Mike Strain will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, March 6. Strain, who has been to Cuba twice on trade missions, will be speaking about his vision for the economic relationship between Louisiana and Cuba. Press Club meets on Mondays at the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel, which is located at 102 France St., in the East and West Baton Rouge Room. Parking is free in the garage off Mayflower Street. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $13 for members and $17 for nonmembers. Transportation Secretary Wilson to speak at Press Club Feb. 20

Patrick Juneau, Deepwater Horizon claims administrator, will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Feb. 13.  He will discuss the billions of dollars in the BP Deepwater Horizon settlement earmarked for the state of Louisiana, the Louisiana coast and the Baton Rouge area in economic payments, tourism promotional funds and coastal restoration projects. Together Baton Rouge leader will speak at Press Club on Feb. 6

Together Baton Rouge’s leader organizer, Broderick Bragert, will discuss a recent study his group did that shows people who are poor and black are more likely to be arrested on drug charges in Baton Rouge. Together Baton Rouge has also been doing outreach ahead of the U.S. Department of Justice report on Alton Sterling’s killing being released, which will also be discussed.
