The Baton Rouge Press Club is hosting a debate for Louisiana Public Service Commission District 2 candidates on Monday, October 1.

Candidates Scott Angelle, R-Breaux Bridge; Sarah Holliday, R-Baton Rouge; Erich Ponti, R-Baton Rouge; Forest Wright, D-New Orleans, and Greg Gaubert, no party-Thibodaux, will be in attendance.

Please remember that only Press Club members and members of the press are allowed to ask questions of the panel.

Taylor will discuss the district’s growth in academic performance and innovative programs; how strategic budget cuts were made to ensure financial stability during lower sales collection periods; and the system’s partnership with the Family and Youth Service Center.

Val Marmillion, managing director of America’s Wetland Foundation, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Sept. 17.

Marmillion will discuss the foundation’s new report, “Beyond Unintended Consequences: Adaptation for Gulf Coast Resiliency and Sustainability,” that offers 30 recommendations for Gulf Coast sustainability based on research and testimony from a series of leadership forums held in 11 communities from Texas to Florida during a 14-month period in 2011 and 2012.

Bernie Pinsonat, pollster for Southern Media and Opinion Research, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Sept. 10.

Pinsonat will discuss the Nov. 6 mayor election in Baton Rouge as well as Louisiana’s Republican trend in recent presidential elections.
