East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore will be the speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Dec. 4. He will give an update on crime in 2023, juvenile escapees and the detention center, office restructure and the Commons Data platform, among other topics.

Outgoing Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 13. Paul, who earlier announced his resignation, will be staying until his successor is named. Paul has been chief for more than five years.

Louisiana attorney general runoff candidate Lindsey Cheek, a Democrat and a New Orleans attorney, will speak at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 6. Her opponent, Solicitor General Liz Murrill, a Republican, has a schedule conflict and cannot attend. Early voting is Nov. 3-11 (excluding Sunday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 10, for Veterans Day), and the election is Nov. 18.
