BREC superintendent to speak at Press Club on July 22
Carolyn McKnight, superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish Recreation and Park Commission, known as BREC, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on July 22. She will discuss progress since passage of the 2004 Imagine Your Parks plan and what comes next. The construction portion of this plan should be mostly completed by 2014.

Russel Honoré to speak at Press Club on July 15
Russel Honoré, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on July 15. Honoré will discuss the Bayou Corne sinkhole in Assumption Parish and the possible need for greater federal and state oversight of commercial operations that potentially affect the lives and safety of Louisiana citizens.

Jim Simon, manager of the Thibodaux-based American Sugar Cane League, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on July 8. Simon will discuss American sugar policy, the farm bill and how Congressional actions affect the $3 billion Louisiana sugarcane industry.
