No Press Club on Monday in Honor of Memorial Day

The Baton Rouge Press Club will not meet Monday, May 28 in honor of Memorial Day.

The Press Club will meet again on Monday, June 4.

Press Club meets on Mondays at De La Ronde Hall, which is located at 320 Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge.

Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and members of the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.


State Inspector General Stephen Street Jr. to Speak at May 21 Press Club

State Inspector General Stephen Street Jr. will address the Press Club at noon Monday, May 21.

Street will discuss his office, the only state law enforcement agency with a primary focus of rooting out fraud and corruption in state government. He also will talk about House Bill 1, which enacts the state budget for the fiscal year and would remove funding for the Inspector General’s Office.

Louisiana Association of Educators President Joyce Haynes to Speak at May 14 Press Club

Louisiana Association of Educators President Joyce Haynes will address the Press Club at noon Monday, May 14.

Haynes will discuss a new law that links 50 percent of annual teacher evaluations to yearly gains in student test scores. The law will go into affect statewide during the 2012-2013 school year.

State Rep. Walter Leger to Speak at May 7 Press Club

State Rep. Walter Leger will address the Press Club at noon Monday, May 7.

Leger will discuss the 2012 Coastal Master Plan and Related Hurricane Protection and Restoration issues in the legislative session as well as other legislative issues.
