Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office Chief Economist Greg Albrecht to Speak at Dec. 19 Press Club
Greg Albrecht, the chief economist with the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Dec. 19.
Albrecht is responsible for forecasting the state’s major tax revenues, estimating the fiscal impact of tax legislation and providing general economic, tax and fiscal analysis for the Legislature.
Press Club meets on Mondays at the De La Ronde Hall in downtown Baton Rouge at 320 Third St. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers.
The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and members of the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
Louisiana Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell to Speak at Dec. 12 Press Club
Louisiana Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Dec. 12.
Campbell will discuss Gov. Bobby Jindal’s decision to not seek $80 million in federal stimulus funds that would extend high speed internet into rural areas of the state. Campbell also will discuss his ongoing push for an oil-processing tax that would tax all oil and gas processed in Louisiana, regardless of where the oil and gas is captured.

President of the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana William Arceneaux to Speak at Dec. 5 Press Club
William Arceneaux, president of the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Dec. 5.
Arceneaux will discuss Act 679 of 2010, which radically altered the composition and mission of CODOFIL. He also will talk about several new initiatives put in place this year to further the cause of promoting and defending the French language in our state.
