Steven Procopio, president of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR), will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Dec. 2. He will explain the four constitutional amendments on the Dec. 7 ballot.

East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, a Democrat seeking her third term, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 25. She will outline her plans for the city-parish if reelected on Dec. 7. Her opponent for the post, Republican Sid Edwards, a newcomer to politics, turned down an invitation to appear with Broome. The runoff election is Dec. 7, with early voting Nov. 22-27 and Nov. 30.

The Press Club of Baton Rouge will host a candidate forum for the East Baton Rouge mayor-president office on Monday, Nov. 25, at noon. Both incumbent mayor-president Sharon Weston Broome, a Democrat, who is seeking her third term, and her opponent Republican Sid Edwards, a newcomer to politics, have been invited, and so far, Broome has confirmed. The runoff election is Dec. 7, with early voting Nov. 22-27 and Nov. 30.

The forum will be from noon to 1 p.m. at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Baton Rouge Food Bank president will speak at Press Club on Nov. 18

Mike Manning, the president and chief executive officer of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 18. Manning will discuss food demand during the upcoming holiday season and will also speak on the need for a food bank at other times of the year. The food bank distributes goods through more than 125 agencies in an 11-parish area.
