Jay Dardenne will speak at Press Club on Sept. 8

Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne is the featured speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 8. The Press Club will not meet on Sept. 1 because of the Labor Day holiday. Dardenne will discuss tourism and Louisiana’s future. Press Club meets on Mondays in the Iberville Room at the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel, which is located at 102 France St. Parking is free in the garage off Mayflower Street. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.


Water Institute official to speak at Press Club on Aug. 25

Chip Groat, president and CEO of the Water Institute of the Gulf in Baton Rouge, is the featured speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 25. He will discuss accomplishments of the institute in its first two years and plans for Louisiana coastal restoration. William Broussard, director of athletics at Southern University, is the featured speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 18. He will speak about the upcoming football season and what fans can expect from the reigning SWAC champions. He will also give updates on the other athletic programs at Southern. Patrick Mulhearn of Celtic Media Centre in Baton Rouge will speak at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 11. He will talk about the stars, the work and the economy of Hollywood South and why producers like to shoot movies here. He will also discuss the schedule for fall and winter film shooting.
