No Press Club meeting until Jan. 6

There will be no meeting of the Press Club on Dec. 23 or 30. We will start the new year on Jan. 6 with Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. On Wednesday, Jan. 8, we’ll have a special meeting at the usual time and place with Gov. Bobby Jindal as speaker. Here is a preview of other meetings:

Jan. 13 – David Hood

Jan. 20 – no meeting because of holiday

Jan. 27 – Rick Koubek, LSU dean of engineering

Feb. 3 – a representative from the RNC talking about Project: Geaux Red


DOTD secretary to speak at Press Club on Dec. 16

Sherri Lebas, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), will address the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Dec. 16. She will discuss 2014 highway plans. Press Club meets on Mondays in the Iberville Room at the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel, which is located at 102 France St. Parking is free in the garage off Mayflower Street. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.


Stephen Waguespack to speak at Press Club on Dec. 9

Stephen Waguespack, president of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), will address the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Dec. 9. He will discuss competing in the global economy.
