State Rep. Major Thibaut, D-Oscar, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Dec. 3. Thibaut will discuss the comprehensive restoration plan for False River, designed to improve the oxbow lake’s habitat for commercial and recreational fishing, as well as for recreational use. Press Club meets on Mondays at De La Ronde Hall, which is located at 320 Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. David Guillory, interim director of the City of Baton Rouge’s Department of Public Works, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Nov. 26. Guillory will discuss the 2012 hurricane season, the challenges and lessons learned, and the new programs and processes in place for 2013. Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Nov. 19.

Dardenne will discuss his recent economic development and cultural mission in Europe. Additionally, he will discuss recent and upcoming Bicentennial activities, the Super Bowl and other tourism matters.

Dr. G. Pearson Cross, head of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s political science department, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Nov. 12.

Cross will discuss his analysis of the results of the Nov. 6 elections for president and congress in Louisiana.
