LSU professor emeritus and author Bob Mann will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 21. Mann, who is the author of Kingfish U: Huey Long and LSU, taught at LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication for 18 years, and spent more than two decades working in Louisiana politics. He will discuss LSU football, the legacy of Huey Long’s involvement in the program and present-day parallels.
Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal, costs $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The speaker begins at 12:15 p.m. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer period. Adjournment is at 1 p.m.
