Secretary of State Tom Schedler and Louisiana House Speaker Jim Tucker will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Oct. 17.

Schedler and Tucker face each other on the Oct. 22 primary election ballot. Both are Republicans.

Louisiana State Employees' Retirement System Executive Director to Speak at Oct. 10 Press Club

Cindy Rougeou, executive director of the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Oct. 10.

Rougeou will discuss the upcoming vote on Constitutional Amendment No. 2, which, if passed, would apply a percentage of state surplus funds to retirement system debt. Also, Rougeou will respond to the Blueprint Louisiana suggestions to “re-engineer public retirement benefits.”

Former LSU basketball coach Dale Brown will speak to the Press Club at noon Monday, Sept. 12.

Brown, who coached LSU for 25 years and led his teams to four SEC titles and two Final Four appearances, will discuss responsibilities of college athletes, administrators and the NCAA. His statements come in response to major NCAA violations and sanctions at several prominent universities and controversy at LSU related to the suspension of quarterback Jordan Jefferson.
