BR officials Jen Racca and Mason Batts to speak at Sept. 29 Press Club

Baton Rouge Metro Council member Jen Racca and the EBR mayor-president’s office director, Mason Batts, will be the guest speakers at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 29. They will discuss the Thrive! Baton Rouge funding plan, which is on the ballot in the Nov. 15 election.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal, is served at 12:15 p.m. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non members. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Louisiana GOP Chair Derek Babcock to speak at Sept. 22 Press Club

Derek Babcock, chair of the Louisiana GOP, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 22. He will discuss the state of the Republican Party following the assassination of conservative media figure Charlie Kirk. Babcock is calling on people from across the political spectrum to condemn political violence and says this death has lit a fire under the Republican Party.

Dr. Chris Thomas, pulmonologist, to speak at Sept. 8 Press Club

Dr. Chris Thomas, a critical care pulmonologist with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 8. He will discuss the growing number of cases of sepsis, which is the leading cause of hospitalization in the United States and a leading cause of death. Dr. Thomas will speak about a new test that he and his medical colleagues are using to identify and treat patients.
