John Georges, publisher and CEO of the Advocate, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on June 24. Georges will discuss the changes he is making at the newspaper to make it viable in two major cities. Michael Faulk, superintendent of the Central Community School System, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on June 3. Faulk represents the Louisiana Association of School Superintendents and will discuss the K-12 education issues now before the Louisiana Legislature and the implications for school districts, teachers and students. Dr. Jimmy Guidry, state health officer and medical director for the Department of Health and Hospitals, will be the speaker at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, May 13. He will talk about hurricane preparedness efforts in advance of the June 1 start of the hurricane season.

David LaCerte, deputy secretary and executive counsel of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on May 6. He will discuss proposed legislation at the state and federal levels regarding veterans and the effects of a possible troop reduction at Fort Polk.
