LSU interim President and Chancellor William Jenkins will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Aug. 13.

Jenkins will discuss current trends in higher education and the challenges that lie ahead.

East Baton Rouge Parish Library System Assistant Directors Patricia Husband and Mary Stein will address the Press Club at noon Monday, Aug. 6.

Husband and Stein will discuss the status of the system’s search for a new director and the library’s various construction projects. Husband and Stein also will talk about library trends, resources and resources, such as they system’s digital historic newspapers.

Former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer will address the Press Club at noon Monday, July 30.

Roemer, who is the founder of Business First Bank in Baton Rouge, will discuss the impact of money in politics as well as the challenges of the banking industry in America.

Jim Caldwell, staff officer for public affairs, recreation and heritage for the Kisatchie National Forest, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, July 23.
Caldwell will discuss the national forest’s past, present and future, including its economic impact on the state.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III and retired High Point, N.C. Police Chief Jim Fealy will address the Press Club at noon Monday, June 25.

Moore and Fealy will discuss the Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination Project, a new violent crime intervention plan aimed at violent offenders as well as drug offenders in the city’s 70805 ZIP code. The plan is modeled after a highly regarded strategy for curbing violence that has worked in cities across the country, including High Point.

Kevin Davis, director of the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, will address the Press Club at noon Monday, June 4.

In addition to hurricane season and emergency preparedness, Davis will discuss the “whole communities” approach, in which parishes are working together to assist each other through the intra-state mutual aid compact and point-to-point sheltering in times of need.
