Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Jan. 7. Knapp will discuss progress with the Creative Capital Agenda, the 2011-2015 strategic plan for national and global competitiveness. Albrecht, Richardson will speak at Press Club about the state budget on Dec. 17

Greg Albrecht and Jim Richardson will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Dec. 17, about the state budget. Albrecht is the chief economist with the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office, and Richardson, an LSU economics professor, is a member of the Revenue Estimating Conference. Public Service Commission Chair Foster Campbell will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Dec. 10. Campbell will discuss his concerns about the fee for telephone calls to inmates in Louisiana prisons being 15 times the going rate. The PSC will vote Wednesday, Dec. 12, on a measure from Campbell to reduce the cost of prison phone conversations by 25 percent. Earl Heard, author of “Sports Legends and Heroes,” will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Oct. 29.

Heard will discuss his book, which focuses more on what the athletes have done with their overall lives than wins, scores and championships.

The Baton Rouge Press Club will host a debate for U.S. Representative 3rd Congressional District candidates on Monday, October 22.

Candidates Jeff Landry, R-New Iberia; Bryan Barrilleaux, R-Lake Charles; and Jim Stark, Libertarian-Lake Charles will be in attendance.

Charles Boustany Jr., R-Lafayette, and Ron Richard, D-Lake Charles were invited but had previous engagements.
