Joe Traigle, an openly gay Baton Rouge businessman and community activist, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Jan. 20. Traigle’s topic is “Steps Toward Great City Status.” Press Club meets on Mondays in the Iberville Room at the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel, which is located at 102 France St. Parking is free in the garage off Mayflower Street. David Hood will speak at Press Club on Jan. 13

David Hood, former secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Jan. 13. Hood will be discussing a newly released white paper on behalf of the Campaign for Health Care for Everyone and Medicaid Expansion. Baton Rouge Chamber CEO Adam Knapp will speak at Press Club Jan. 6

Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Jan. 6. Knapp will review the state of the region and the organization, including a recap of achievements in 2013 and a review of BRAC’s top priorities for 2014. There will be no meeting of the Press Club on Dec. 23 or 30. We will start the new year on Jan. 6 with Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. Michael Kurtz to speak at Press Club on Nov. 18

Southeastern Louisiana University history professor Michael Kurtz will address the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 18. Dr. Kurtz is recognized as one of the leading authorities on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. With the 50th anniversary of the JFK death, Dr. Kurtz will discuss assassination theories and the prospect for new information about the events in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.
