Louisiana Coastal Protection official will speak at Press Club on April 4

Chip Kline, Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority chairman, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, April 4. Kline will share insights on the newly released 2023 Fiscal Year Coastal Annual Plan for coastal restoration and hurricane protection, a plan totaling $1.35 billion.

State Rep. Rick Edmonds will speak at Press Club March 28

State Rep. Rick Edmonds, R-Baton Rouge, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, March 28. He will speak about his bipartisan-sponsored bill, House Bill 22, which provides for the reemployment of retired teachers to address the critical teacher shortage in Louisiana. Edmonds will also discuss other legislation under consideration to positively impact education, as well as overall budget issues.

Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, March 21. He will discuss BRAC plans to accelerate economic opportunity in the Baton Rouge Area — for everyone — through its new five-year, regional strategic plan, BRING IT! Baton Rouge. The plan focuses on four goals to drive growth through 2026. Knapp will share outcomes from the last five-year plan, the data that drives the BRING IT! strategy, and details on BRAC’s priority tactics for 2022.

The Press Club of Baton Rouge will not meet on Monday, March 14, because of the start of the Legislative Session that day. Weekly luncheon meetings will resume on March 21 at the Drusilla Seafood Restaurant. The speaker will be Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.

Nora Ahmed, legal director for the Louisiana ACLU, will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Feb. 28. She will discuss the legal challenges to some of the maps that were passed by Louisiana lawmakers in the special redistricting session. She will also touch on the upcoming legislative session.
