Southern University Political Scientist Albert Samuels and former East Baton Rouge Metro Councilman Darrell Glasper will be the guest speakers at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Sept. 9. Samuels, a Democrat, and Republican Glasper will discuss the Nov. 5 election as debates start this week. Four candidates for mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish clash on Wednesday after Tuesday’s matchup of nominees in the presidential election with former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris meeting for the first time.
Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Speakers begin at 12:15 p.m.
The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
