No Press Club on Jan. 17

The Press Club of Baton Rouge will not meet on Monday, Jan. 17, because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Weekly luncheon meetings will resume on Jan. 24 at the Drusilla Seafood Restaurant. The speaker will be Steve Procopio, president of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana, known as PAR.


U.S. Senate candidate Luke Mixon will speak at Press Club on Jan. 10

Luke Mixon, candidate in the 2022 U.S. Senate election in which Republican John Kennedy is seeking a second term, will be the speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Jan. 10. Mixon, a Democrat from Bunkie, is a graduate of the Naval Academy and decorated veteran of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at the Drusilla Seafood Restaurant, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal served at noon, is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

OLOL chief medical officer will be the guest speaker at Press Club on Dec. 13

Dr. Catherine O’Neal, chief medical officer with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Dec. 13. Dr. O’Neal is an infectious disease specialist. She will speak about the local health concerns related to managing the COVID pandemic during the holidays and winter months, including the impact the Omicron variant could have in the metropolitan area.

Hillar Moore, the East Baton Rouge Parish district attorney, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Dec. 6. Moore will talk about Baton Rouge crime trends over the past year and more.

Col. Lamar A. Davis, superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 29. He will discuss the challenges to his agency over the past year, reform and advancements during his tenure as superintendent as well as the LSP’s commitment to providing professional and compassionate public safety services.

Stefanski, from Crowley, is the chairman of the House and Governmental Affairs Committee, which along with Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee, is working on how to redraw Louisiana’s voting district lines in the wake of the 2020 Census. Stefanski will talk about how the redistricting work is going.

Barry Erwin, president of the Council for a Better Louisiana (CABL), will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Nov. 8. Erwin will review the four amendments on the Nov. 13 ballot. He is a proponent of a revamped tax structure for the state.
