Jim Henderson, president and CEO of the University of Louisiana System, will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Oct. 9. Maxine Crump, president and CEO of Dialogue on Race Louisiana, will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 21. Crump, a journalist who was the first black reporter at WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge and the first African-American female to live in a dormitory at LSU, will discuss the significance of the deadly racial clash in Charlottesville, Virginia, this month. She will also talk about learning in 2016 that some of her ancestors had been sold as slaves in 1838 by Georgetown University.
