Don Briggs, president of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association, will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Aug. 31. He will talk about falling oil prices and the effects on the economy. DHH official will discuss brain-eating amoeba at Press Club Aug. 24

Dr. Jimmy Guidry, the state health officer of Louisiana and the Department of Health and Hospital’s medical director, will speak to the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Aug. 24. He will talk about the brain-eating amoeba that has been found in water systems in Ascension and St. Bernard parishes. Treasurer John Kennedy will speak at Press Club on Aug. 17

State Treasurer John Kennedy will speak at the Baton Rouge Press Club on Monday, Aug. 17. Kennedy will discuss getting the federal government to release nonredeemed savings bonds into the state’s unclaimed property program. He will also address what he calls a mistake by the Legislature in not having a two-thirds vote on raising some taxes during the last session. Good Roads head to speak at the Aug. 10 Press Club

Kenneth Perret, president of the Louisiana Good Roads and Transportation Association, will be the speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 10. Perret will discuss the state of roads in Louisiana and will release the association’s call to action for the upcoming gubernatorial and legislative elections. The association’s mission is to promote the development of Louisiana’s transportation system. W. Feliciana Schools Superintendent Milton to speak Aug. 3 at Press Club

Hollis Milton, superintendent of West Feliciana Parish Schools, will be the speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Aug. 3. Milton, who is the newly appointed president of the Louisiana Association of School Superintendents, will discuss the law requiring all high school students in Louisiana to take the ACT and the status of student ACT scores as well as new school year issues. Coastal protection board chair to speak at the July 27 Press Club

Chip Kline, executive assistant to the governor for coastal activities and chairman of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority Board, will be the speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, July 2. Kline will discuss the proposed BP settlement and how the money will be used to remediate damage and help restore Louisiana’s endangered coastal ecosystem. Kevin Davis, the director of the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), will be the speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, July 13. Davis will discuss approaching the heart of hurricane activity, the 10th anniversary of Katrina and Rita and a recap of the Red River flooding events.
