John Bel Edwards to speak at Press Club on Nov. 9

The two gubernatorial candidates have been invited to speak at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Nov. 9. But only State Representative John Bel Edwards has accepted the invitation. U.S. Senator David Vitter has not yet responded.

The following Monday, Nov. 16, the two lieutenant governor candidates, East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Kip Holden and the former president of Plaquemines Parish, Billy Nungesser, have both agreed to appear.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the Iberville Room at the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel, which is located at 102 France St. Parking is free in the garage off Mayflower Street. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $13 for members and $17 for nonmembers. Jeff Landry to speak at Press Club on Nov. 2

Candidates for three top offices in Louisiana – attorney general, lieutenant governor and governor – have been invited to speak at the next three meetings of the Press Club of Baton Rouge. First up for Nov. 2 is the attorney general forum. Former Louisiana Congressman Jeff Landry has accepted the invitation, but the incumbent Louisiana attorney general, Buddy Caldwell, has declined.

On Nov. 9, the two gubernatorial candidates have been invited, and state representative John Bel Edwards has accepted. U.S. Sen. David Vitter has not yet responded.

Michael Henderson, director of the LSU Public Policy Research Lab, will be the speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Oct. 26. Henderson will provide an analysis of the results from the Oct. 24 election. The candidates for the office of attorney general canceled for Monday’s Press Club. Instead, LSU President F. King Alexander will speak. The speaker for the next week, Oct. 4, will be Warren Drake, superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Public Schools.
