Two leaders with the East Baton Rouge Parish Recreation and Park Commission (BREC) will be the guest speakers at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, June 15. Interim Superintendent Janet Simmons and Interim Chief Operating Officer Maurice Velasquez will discuss the organization’s master plan, recent operational changes, the millage renewal on the June 27 ballot, and selection of the new superintendent.
Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal, costs $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The speaker begins at 12:15 p.m. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer period. Adjournment is at 1 p.m.
