State Rep. Hollis Downs to speak Monday, May 9

State Rep. Hollis Downs will speak to the Baton Rouge Press Club at noon Monday, May 9.

Downs will discuss a constitutional amendment and an accompanying statutory act that would increase the minimum annual registration or license tax on certain vehicles. The revenue would go to a new fund called the Transportation Infrastructure Growth of Economy Through Roads. The fund would support projects that would relieve congestion in metropolitan areas across the state.

Press Club meets on Mondays at De La Ronde Hall, which is located at 320 Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and is $12 for members and $15 for non-members. The public is invited but only Press Club members and members of the press are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
