Secretary of State Nancy Landry will speak on election changes at Jan. 5 Press Club

Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry will be the guest speaker at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, Jan. 5. She will discuss election changes brought about by lawmakers who ended Louisiana’s “jungle” primary for certain seats. Beginning in 2026, Democratic and Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, state Supreme Court, Public Service Commission and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will advance through party primaries. Third-party candidates will need to gather signatures on a nominating petition.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, which is located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal, is served at 12:15 p.m. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non members. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
