Richey, Barrow to speak about child advocacy legislation at Press Club April 15

Newly appointed Louisiana Child Ombudsman, Kathleen Richey, J.D., will share the duties and challenges of the new Office of the Louisiana Child Ombudsman in the protection of children and share the podium with State Senator and President Pro Tempore, Regina Barrow, District 15, at the Press Club of Baton Rouge on Monday, April 15. They will discuss a proposed Senate measure, (S-145), designed to strengthen the child ombudsman’s ability to safeguard the needs, welfare and safety of children with expanded rights and responsibilities.

Press Club meets on Mondays in the ballroom at Drusilla Place Catering, located at the Drusilla Shopping Center at Drusilla Drive and Jefferson Hwy. Lunch, which is a sit-down meal served at 12:15 p.m., is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and news reporters are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
