LSU AgCenter Economist John Westra will speak to the Baton Rouge Press Club at noon Monday, March 28.
Westra will release the numbers from the 2010 Ag Summary, which shows that unlike some of the rest of the economy, agriculture in Louisiana had a good year last year, and both the forestry and poultry industries rebounded from 2009. Overall, the report shows agriculture contributed $9.9 billion to the state’s economy in 2010, up 20 percent from 2009.
Press Club meets on Mondays at De La Ronde Hall, which is located at 320 Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and members of the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
